Pasadena City College - Fall 2023 - Graphic Design
I created billboard advertisements for Doc Martens focusing on the brand's roots in the Punk and DIY movements, where political and cultural forces shaped its role as a symbol of rebellion and individuality. In researching for the project, I explored how social dynamics influence art and design. Through this, I learned that Doc Martens became a staple in youth culture. This informed my design process, where I used gritty textures, bold typography, and DIY-inspired aesthetics to capture the brand's spirit. I learned about the importance of aligning designs with a brand’s history and values, and how politics and culture impact advertising strategies, especially for large formats.
