Pratt Institute - Type and Information
In this project, I examine typography within historical, technological, global, and social contexts. I learned that most typographic language derives from tools used to create shapes predating the invention of printing such as brushes, pen-nibs, and chisels form the foundation of these shapes. First, I collected and analyzed examples of typographic forms from your environment. In the second part of this project, I began reconstructing and developing an alphabet inspired by my tool analysis with ribbon and other physical mediums. After completing my exploration, I digitize my letterforms using vector-based tools to refine and translate my sketches into a polished digital typeface. During this phase, I experimented with different refinements in Photoshop and then Cinema4D to enhance the design and bring cohesion to my typeface.
